About the Job:

The Associate Engineer is an upper-level position that involves direct responsibility for junior engineers, project results, and strong client relationships. In this role, you’ll lead projects from start to finish, ensuring the successful delivery of final project outcomes. This is a full-time, on-site position located in any of our offices in Indianapolis, IN; Denver, CO; Jacksonville, FL; or Washington, DC.

Responsibilities:

Design structural steel connections, various building structures and foundation systems, stair & rails, steel detailing coordination, and general structural engineering consulting.
Collaborate with engineers to analyze, design, and optimize structures for diverse projects.
Support the team in problem-solving and proposing innovative solutions to engineering dilemmas.
Perform structural calculations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
Contribute to CAD modeling, drafting, and preparing shop documents.
Attend project meetings, workshops, and training sessions to broaden your knowledge base.
Mentor, delegate, and oversee junior engineer’s work on assigned projects.
Take ownership and manage project workloads from initial setup to project closeout.
Work directly with clients and provide final review on project deliverables.
Develop profitable relationships with new and existing clients.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Engineering or related technical field is required.
A Professional Engineer (PE) license.
A minimum of 4 years of structural engineering work experience is required.

Skills:

Proficient in AutoCAD, Mathcad, RAM Elements, RAM Connections, Trimble Connections, IDEA Statica, Hilti Profis, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Excel.
Knowledgeable in ASCE Standards, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC Codes, and NISTIR 8458 seismic safety standards.
Experienced in connection design, stair & rail design, and building design.
Foundation design, barrier cable design, and steel detailing experience are a plus.
Experience leading a project from initial setup to completion.
Experience mentoring and training junior engineers.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Leadership, delegation, and time management skills.
