About the Job:

The Senior Associate Engineer is a senior-level position that involves increased responsibility for the company’s performance.  In this role, you’ll provide technical support for the team and assist with the company’s financials, operations, and overall success and growth. This is a full-time, on-site position located in any of our offices in Indianapolis, IN; Denver, CO; Jacksonville, FL; or Washington, DC.

Responsibilities:

  • Design structural steel connections, various building structures and foundation systems, stair & rails, steel detailing coordination, and general structural engineering consulting.
  • Perform structural calculations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Contribute to CAD modeling, drafting, and preparing shop documents.
  • Support the team in problem-solving and proposing innovative solutions to engineering dilemmas.
  • Attend project meetings, workshops, and training sessions to broaden your knowledge base.
  • Design structural steel connections, various building structures and foundation systems, stair & rails, steel detailing coordination, and general structural engineering consulting.
  • Mentor, delegate, and oversee junior engineers’ work on assigned projects.
  • Take ownership of projects from initial quote and setup to invoicing and closeout.
  • Provide final review of project deliverables.
  • Work directly with existing clients and develop profitable relationships with new clients.
  • Identify ways to improve engineering efficiency and implement new design procedures.
  • Assist with management of the company’s operations and financial performance.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Engineering or related technical field is required.
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • A minimum of 8 years of structural engineering work experience.

Skills:

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Mathcad, RAM Elements, RAM Connections, Trimble Connections, IDEA Statica, Hilti Profis, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledgeable in ASCE Standards, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC Codes, and NISTIR 8458 seismic safety standards.
  • Experienced in connection design, stair & rail design, and building design.
  • Foundation design, barrier cable design, and steel detailing experience are a plus.
  • Experience leading a project from initial setup to completion.
  • Experience mentoring and training junior engineers.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Leadership, delegation, and time management skills.

This role is on-site and can be based out of any of our offices in Indianapolis, IN; Denver, CO; Jacksonville, FL; or Washington, DC.
